Springfield, Vt., Man Threatens Trooper With Throwing Knives
Springfield, Vt. — Authorities say a Vermont man high on a combination of bath salts and cough syrup threatened a Vermont State Police trooper with throwing knives sheathed to his body.
State police said the trooper was on patrol Saturday in Springfield and saw 26-year-old Vincent Turcio fall on his head in a gas station parking lot and later fall out of a chair at the station.
The trooper said when Turcio was asked whether he had identification, he lifted his shirt and reached for three throwing knives that were in a sheath strapped to his chest.
The trooper stopped him and, after a lengthy struggle, Turcio was taken into custody and to a hospital.
Turcio told state police he had taken bath salts and drank five bottles of cough syrup.
He was hospitalized and unavailable for comment.
Turcio faces several charges.
