Dartmouth Fraternity Fire Called Suspicious

Hanover — Police suspect arson as the cause of a fire that happened last week at Dartmouth College’s Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity.

Police and firefighters responded to the fraternity on Webster Avenue at 2:40 a.m. Friday. All residents were evacuated, and when firefighters arrived, they found that the sprinkler system had already extinguished the fire, said fire Capt. Michael Hinsley.

Police Capt. Frank Moran called the fire suspicious but declined to give further details. Damage was minor and students returned to the fraternity after the evacuation.
