Bruce K. Haskell
New London, N.H. — Bruce K. Haskell, 62, of King Hill Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. He was born in Brookline, Mass. on Jan. 23, 1950, the son of Kenneth and Iris (Kimball) Haskell.
Bruce grew up in Manchester, N.H. graduating from Central High School in 1968 while spending summers in New London and moving here permanently in 1977. He graduated from The Thompson School at the University of N.H. and began working for the DOT for the State of N.H. right after school. He was semi-retired and still working as an engineering consultant for the State. Always one to keep busy, Bruce was co-owner of Haswel Management Corp., Colonial Reflections, J & T Traders Gunsmith and recently Fourth Turn Woodworking.
A true craftsman, he was very proud to be a juried member of the N.H. League of Craftsmen and The Guild of NH Woodworkers. He had been a member of the New London Volunteer Fire Department and the National Ski Patrol.
Bruce worked on the school playground project and helped found the Messer Pond Protective Association. A true outdoorsman, he loved to flyfish, kayak, ski, bike and hike, woodworking and construction projects. Bruce loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father and proud grandfather.
Members of his family surviving include his wife of 40 years, Karen (Welch) Haskell of New London; two sons, Jeffery B. Haskell and his girlfriend, Victoria of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Tyler F. and his wife, Melissa Haskell of Peabody, Mass.; a grandson, Grayson; his sister and her husband, Brenda and Peter Henk of Goffstown, N.H. and York, Maine; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Fecteau of San Diego, Calif.; a niece and two nephews, Danielle, Robbie and Scott.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Private family burial in the Spring)
