Letter: The Book Sale Will Be Back

To the Editor:

The 52nd annual Five Colleges Book Sale has succeeded again in bringing delight and good deals to book lovers throughout New England, New York and Canada. To the hundreds of people who donated books, the dealers and patrons who attended the sale, and the many volunteers and business partners who sorted, packed, hauled and priced more than 40,000 books, we say thank you! The net proceeds from the sale support scholarships for New Hampshire and Vermont students at Mount Holyoke, Simmons, Smith, Vassar and Wellesley colleges.

We are extremely pleased to announce that the 53rd Five Colleges Book Sale will take place in April of 2014. We continue to be encouraged by the support of new volunteers and the widespread community response affirming the value of the book sale to the Upper Valley. In addition, our donations of books to local libraries, social service agencies and reading programs in the U.S. and abroad further inspire us to continue the book sale as a valuable community service project.

Donations of books and media for the 2014 sale will be accepted at our donation site beginning next March. Donations are tax deductible.
