Morris Selected Again As ECAC’s Top Goalie

Hanover — Dartmouth’s Cab Morris has once again been named the ECAC Hockey goaltender of the week, the league office announced yesterday morning.

Morris, a junior from Wilmette, Ill., earned the honor after a 31-save performance helped the Big Green knock off in-state rival and second-ranked New Hampshire, 4-1, Sunday night in the preliminary round of the Ledyard Classic at a sold-out Thompson Arena.

The 31 saves were a new career high for Morris, besting his old mark of 30 set in last season’s Ledyard Classic against Holy Cross. This is the second time this season, and the third occurrence in the last two years, that Morris has been tabbed as the league’s top netminder after also taking home the honor on Nov. 14. Last year’s Ledyard performance led to a goaltender of the month honor from the league.

Morris also turned aside 26 shots in a losing effort to Massachusetts on Monday night in the Ledyard Classic championship. This season, Morris boasts a 5-2-1 record to go along with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage.

Quinnipiac’s Ben Arnt was named the league’s top player, and Brown’s Brandon Pfeil was tabbed the ECAC’s top rookie for the week.

No. 8 Dartmouth returns to ECAC action on Friday night at No. 5 Quinnipiac and Saturday afternoon at Princeton. Friday’s game will be televised live by the New England Sports Network.
