Formella Joins Regional Girl Scout Board
Lebanon — Nancy Formella, of Hanover, recently joined the board of directors of Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.
Formella, who is executive adviser to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock board of trustees, plans to retire later this year.
In a recent news release, the Girl Scouts chapter said Formella “consistently credits her professional accomplishments to her Girl Scout experiences.”
“I often recognize that the complex issues I deal with in my leadership work are not, at their core, too dissimilar from the issues I learned to resolve as a Girl Scout,” Formella said in the release. “Now I have an opportunity to give back.”
Formella served as acting president of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital from May 2006 until she became president in 2007. She took on her current role in 2011. She holds a master’s degree in nursing. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and several nursing associations. In 2005, she received the award for Nursing Management Excellence from the New Hampshire Organization of Nurse Leaders, and in 2009 she received the Distinguished Alumna in Nursing Award from Marquette University.
Formella, who has served on numerous regional and national task forces and committees, is a member of the American Hospital Association’s Performance Improvement Committee. She is immediate past chairwoman of the New Hampshire Hospital Association Board of Trustees.
She is a member of the Granite United Way Board of Directors and previously served on the Kendal at Hanover board of directors.
Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains serves 14,500 girls across New Hampshire and Vermont.
