A service for Torin Tucker concludes with a candlelight vigil on Dartmouth College’s Baker Lawn in Hanover on Wednesday. Hundreds of participants circled the lawn while a poem was read and the Baker Library bell rang 20 times. Tucker, 20, died during a cross country skiing race Saturday from sudden cardiac arrest as a result of a rare heart defect, according to his death certificate. “It is likely that during the stress of his 50-kilometer ski marathon, the coronary arteries were squeezed to the point where they could no longer adequately supply blood to the heart,” according to a statement from the college.
