Grantham Firefighter Completes Training

Grantham — Grantham Firefighter Ian Gill was one of 13 New Hampshire firefighters who recently completed the Firefighter I program at the state’s Fire Academy in Concord.

The 212-hour program covered firefighter survival skills, search and rescue techniques, and equipment, such as ladders, nozzles and personal protection gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus. The course also included fire suppression, wild land firefighter training, fire detection systems, water supplies, Hazmat and CPR.

The academy’s mission is to increase the capability of New Hampshire’s fire and emergency services through research and the application of the best methodologies, techniques, education, and practice of fire and emergency medical services.

Graduation for the 2012 Fall Evening Firefighter I program was held last week.
