Police: Suspect in Fairlee Attempted Robbery Fled Wearing Clown Mask

Fairlee — State police are looking for a suspect in the attempted robbery of a Fairlee convenience store on Friday night

Police said the suspect was wearing a Halloween clown mask when he entered the Champlain Farms store at 51 Lake Morey Road at about 8 p.m. Friday and demanded all the cash in the store. When a staff member refused to comply, the suspect threatened store employees and then fled on foot.

The suspect never displayed a weapon, but he did keep one hand inside his sweatshirt and motioned with that hand in a threatening manner, police said.

The suspect is described as slender, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. The clown mask covered his entire face. He was dressed in jeans, sneakers and a red sweatshirt and had dark, bloodshot eyes.

Anyone with information about this suspect is encouraged to call Trooper Eric Jollymore at 802-222-4680.
