CRREL Grant Work Helps Support Area Robotics Teams
Hanover — High school robotics teams from Lebanon, Claremont, Sharon, North Sutton and the Dunstable-Groton, Mass., area will be provided with registration costs and start-up kits to participate in First Robotics competition, thanks to a grant from the National Defense Educational Program.
The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover successfully competed for the grants. The regional First Robotics teams are supported by the laboratory as part of a Department of Defense outreach effort to students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs, known as STEM.
About 65 area students participate on these teams, supported by volunteer coaches and organizers from their local communities and schools.
