Police Identify Woman Killed in Weathersfield Crash

Weathersfield — Vermont State Police have released the name of the woman who was killed in a collision Friday night at the junction Route 131 and Branch Brook Road in Weathersfield.

Jennifer Bixby, 33, of Springfield, Vt., was riding westbound on a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Motorcycle operated by Jeremy Desmarais, 39, also of Springfield, when it collided with a 2010 Ford Fusion traveling east on Route 131.

Bixby and Desmarais were transported to Springfield Hospital, where Bixby died of her injuries. Desmarais sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. Paul Cooper, 59, of Windham, the operator of the Ford Fusion, was not injured.

Vermont State Police and the Weathersfield Police Department, the West Weathersfield Fire Department and Golden Cross Ambulance responded to the scene around 8 p.m.

The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the cause of the accident, but alcohol does not appear have been a factor.
