Letter: How to Stop Texting While Driving

I think we are barking up the wrong tree when we expect our young drivers to put away their phones when driving. It is difficult for those of my generation to understand, but these devices are like additional body parts to the younger generations, and they will not stop using them. The simple solution, which I have not seen in print, is to alter the cars in a way that simply makes it impossible to use the phone inside a car. One would have to actually get out of the car to use the phone. I don’t believe that this is a difficult task and thousands of lives could be saved.
