Second Growth Hosts Festival Of Youth Art, Music, Poetry
White River Junction — Organizers are billing a free arts festival next weekend as “a substance-free celebration of young adult creativity.” The Spring Break Arts and Music Fest is set for Saturday from 4-10 p.m. at the Wilder Center, 2087 Hartford Ave. The date, April 20, is no accident.
The number 420 has become slang for smoking marijuana, and April 20 can be a tough day for young people trying to toe the line, organizers said in a news release last week. The sponsors “are providing a safe and healthy environment for young adults that want to stay clean and be productive on a day that is historically known as a day of heavy substance use.” The family friendly festival will feature the artwork, music and poetry of dozens of local residents ages 14-30.
It is sponsored by Second Growth, along with The Junction Teen Life Skills Center, Clara Martin Center, the Youth Managed Cafe and the Youth in Transition Grant.
