Driver Charged in Woodstock Accident That Killed Horse
Woodstock — A 64-year-old Vermont driver has been criminally charged for allegedly driving his truck into two horses on Route 106 on Saturday, injuring two riders and killing one of the horses.
Lawrence Allen of Bloomfield, Vt., in the Northeast Kingdom has been charged with gross negligent operation for the incident.
The riders — 54-year-old Ann Marie Savino and 28-year-old Christina Phillips — were treated at the hospital and released after Allen slammed into them while driving a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup.
Police say one horse had to be put down on the scene and the other is being treated by a veterinarian.
Allen is scheduled to appear in Windsor Superior Court in May to answer to the charge.
