— A former Selectboard member was charged with felony drug possession this week. Police say they found a large quantity of marijuana and several firearms inside his Route 14 home.

Reggie Tatro, a selectman from 2008 and 2010, will be arraigned in Windsor Superior Court in the coming weeks, Hartford police said.

An unidentified 17-year-old juvenile who lives at Tatro’s home was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Hartford Police Capt. Brad Vail said.

Police said they found a “large sum of cash,” along with drug paraphernalia and several weapons on Tuesday inside the Tatro residence. Court documents were not available yesterday.

Tatro, 63, could not be reached for comment.

The investigation started with a routine traffic stop on Monday, Vail said.

A driver found to be in possession of marijuana provided evidence that led police to the Tatro home, Vail said.

Police obtained a search warrant on Tuesday morning and entered the home.

Tatro has three children, and previously told the Valley News that he has lived Hartford for more than 23 years, running T&R Used Cars.

Vail said the department had no conflicts in investigating someone who was once among the town’s elected leaders .

“There are no complications whatsoever,” Vail said. “People bring this upon themselves.”

Windsor County State’s Attorney Robert Sand could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Hartford Town Manager Hunter Rieseberg did not respond to a message seeking comment.

Tatro won election to the Selectboard in 2008 but was ousted in 2010 by Bonnie Latham, who won by two votes.

During his term, Tatro was generally supportive of Rieseberg, who has at times been a target of criticism from board members.

“To judge a man by what a few people have to say about someone is the wrong way to judge a man,” Tatro said in May 2009 during a debate about Rieseberg. “If you’re going to judge a man’s doings, find out all of his doings, not just part of what he’s doing.”
