Thetford Center — Kristen Downey, of Thetford Center, has joined Upper Valley Educators Institute as associate director for secondary education. She will serve on UVEI’s faculty and assume primary responsibility for coordinating the pedagogical training of secondary education interns.

Downey received her teaching certificate from Upper Valley Teacher Institute, now UVEI, in 2003. She went on to teach English/language arts, most recently at Frances C. Richmond Middle School in Hanover. In addition to teaching seventh-grade English, she played an active role in the school, initiating and executing several school-wide projects, mentoring teacher interns, and serving as the Kendal at Hanover-Richmond School liaison, UVEI said in a recent news release.

Downey graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and earned a master’s degree in education from Plymouth State University. — Staff report
