VINS Launches Fundraiser for Intern Housing

Quechee — Vermont Institute of Natural Science has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $50,000 toward build intern housing on its grounds.

In the first two days, the online fundraiser brought in nearly $1,000.

Interns at VINS receive stipends and housing. Its current “intern housing resource” will become unavailable before the end of the year, VINS said in a recent news release. Interns learn the “on-the-ground” work of environmental education and wild bird rehabilitation, and fine-tune their career plans. Over the years, many have gone on to careers in wildlife management, environmental science and natural resource management.

Designing, planning and building the house is expected to cost $250,000. The organization will be pursuing other funding strategies to make up the difference.

The nonprofit hopes area businesses will provide donations or challenge grants to support its efforts. For more information, contact Tom Warhol at or 802-359-5001, ext. 229, or go to
