Woman, 19, Killed in Accident

Ascutney — A Claremont woman died Sunday evening when the vehicle she was riding in overturned on Route 131.

Vermont State Police said Monday that Scotlynn Silfies, 19, was transported to Valley Regional Hospital where she died.

The driver of the vehicle, Seth Smith, 20, was treated for his injuries at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

A spokesperson for the hospital said they were not authorized to release information on Smith’s condition.

Smith was traveling westbound, less than a mile from the Exit 8 interchange of Interstate 91, when his vehicle left the road. No further details were available.

Silfies’ family issued a statement thanking the emergency personnel who responded to the accident and personnel at Valley Regional Hospital .

Silfies was employed at National Field Representatives in Claremont. A spokeswoman said Silfies became a full-time employee in the inspection department in January.
