Ride Service Buys Bus Co.

Lebanon — Upper Valley Ride, a 2-year-old shuttle and car service company, has purchased a Vermont transportation company and is expanding its services, the owner said last week.

As a result of the acquisition of The Good Bus, Upper Valley Ride will be able to offer service to larger groups for tours, excursions and outings, said Randy Heller, who has built Upper Valley Ride by providing daily shuttle and door-to-door car service to and from Manchester Regional, Boston Logan and surrounding airports.

In the past, Upper Valley Ride needed to make arrangements with a subcontractor to provide service for larger groups. The Good Bus was used regularly, and when the owner decided to sell the business she contacted Heller.

“She had initially started The Good Bus to accommodate her yoga retreat business, to bring students up to Plymouth, Vt., from New York City,” Hellar said. “It really wasn’t her primary business, and she was ready to get out of it.”

Heller purchased the business’ two 24-passenger minibuses, a 15-passenger van and a 12-foot luggage trailer. Upper Valley Ride will continue to serve the yoga retreat and the Plymouth-Ludlow, Vt., region and will keep one of the buses in that area.

“Now, we can handle groups as large as 75 people for weddings, field trips, summer camps and school and college events. They won’t all be able to ride on the same bus, but we can get them there all at the same time,” he said.

Upper Valley Ride also will continue to provide individual and small group transportation to and from Boston-Logan, Manchester Regional, Lebanon, Springfield-Hartford, Westchester, LaGuardia, Kennedy and Montreal airports.
