Rainforest Action

Samantha Simmons, Sara Hall and Lauren Hall, left to right, are among a group of Ray School students who have been raising money to protect the Amazon rainforest. Last weekend, the third-graders sold lemonade, baked goods and crafts on Hanover’s Main Street, raising $374 for the World Wildlife Fund. This weekend, the girls plan to set up the stand again. They’ll be there today from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., selling the jewelry, greeting cards and other crafts they made themselves with adult supervision, along with snacks, said Diana Hall, Sara and Lauren’s mom. The group, organized primarily by Sara, will donate the money from this weekend’s sales to the WWF and possibly to other Amazon rainforest-related charities. Diana Hall photograph
