Claremont — Connor Theroux, a member of Troop 38 in Claremont, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank available in Scouting. For his Eagle Scout project, Theroux built 16 bat houses and installed them in Veterans, Moody and Monadnock parks in Claremont. The idea came from a book about bat conservation he borrowed from his scoutmaster and mentor, Bruce Edwards. Using a “pretty simple” design from the book, Theroux and several volunteers built the boxes last summer. Local businesses donated the wood and paint for the project.
