Engagement: Coakley — Bedard
Grantham — Susan and James Coakley, of Grantham, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Beth Ann Coakley, to Robert Michael Bedard.
The bride-to-be is a resident of Beverly, Mass. She attended the Ray School in Hanover and is a graduate of Souhegan High School in Amherst, N.H. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., in 1999 and received a master’s degree in special education from Simmons College in Boston in 2004. She is assistant chairwoman of the Math Department at The Landmark School in Beverly.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Vivian Beaudette Bedard, of Pawtucket, R.I., and Robert Bedard, of North Attleboro, Mass. A graduate of Tolman High School in Pawtucket, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1980-84, working aboard the USS Forrestal and the USS John F. Kennedy. He is employed in the Pawtucket school department.
The couple plan an August wedding at Capewinds Waterfront Resort in Falmouth, Mass. The bride-to-be intends to wear an ivory satin gown thathas been worn by seven other brides in her family, including her mother, two aunts, two great-aunts, and two cousins. Purchased in 1948, the gown has been passed down through seven decades and three generations
