Anniversary: Raymond and Joyce Miller
White River Junction — Raymond and Joyce Miller celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2014, at their farm in White River Junction.
The event was hosted by the couple’s children and their spouses, Norma and Byron Young, Chet and Candy Miller, George and Linda Miller, Doug and Julie Miller, and Sandy and Doug Audsley. Seven of the couple’s nine grandchildren and five of their seven great-grandchildren attended the celebration, which featured cake, ice cream and pies. The couple also have a stepgreat-grandchild.
Raymond Miller attended Hartford High School and worked for Noble and Belisle Machinery as a mechanic for 10 years. He was employed by Daniels Sales and Service, also as a mechanic, for about eight years before beginning to farm with his son George. They started with pigs and eventually switched to dairy farming. Valview Farm has the distinction of being the last of the 11 original dairy farms on Jericho Road and it continues to support three families. He also established a successful butchering business before turning it over to his eldest son, Chet. In his spare time, he enjoys cattle trading, hunting, gun collecting, target shooting and welding.
Joyce Miller graduated from Hanover High School in 1952 and went to work for The College Supply Store in Hanover for about 11/2 years. After the birth of her five children, she worked at Hartford High School in the cafeteria for four years before dedicating herself to farming. She enjoys gardening, reading, quilting and family functions and has traveled out West with friends several times. She continues to volunteer at the Hartford Historical Society.
Raymond Miller and Joyce Gray were married on May 29, 1954.
