Vital Communities Honors 14 Upper Valley Women Leaders

Hartford — A celebration last week honored 14 women leaders whose work has significantly contributed to the Upper Valley.

Vital Communities’ annual Heroes and Leaders event also serves as a benefit for the nonprofit’s Leadership Upper Valley program.

The following women were honored at Thursday’s sold out dinner at the Quechee Club: Merilynn Bourne, executive director, Listen Community Services; Barbara Couch, Hypertherm’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and president of the Hypertherm HOPE Foundation, a philanthropic nonprofit; Gail Dahlstrom, vice president of facilities management at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; Julia Griffin, Hanover town manager; Jacqueline Guillette, superintendent of schools, Grantham SAU 75; Sara Kobylenski, executive director, Upper Valley Haven; Suzanne Long, farmer, Luna Bleu Farm; Jeanie McIntyre, president, Upper Valley Land Trust; Jane Kitchel McLaughlin, of the Kitchel-McLaughlin Family Fund; Susan E. Mooney, CEO and president of Alice Peck Day Health Systems; Betty Porter, one of the founders of Vital Communities; Allie Quinn, one of the founders of the Montshire Museum of Science; Bente Torjusen, executive director, AVA Gallery; Kathy Underwood, president and CEO, Ledyard Bank. — Staff report
