VINS to Host Photography Workshop, Exhibit in April

Quechee — The Vermont Institute of Natural Science will host a bird photography workshop and an exhibition of wildlife photography this spring.

Local photojournalist Rob Strong will teach a portrait class using hawks, owls and other birds at VINS on April 7, from 1-3 p.m. The workshop, designed for intermediate-level photographers, will cover techniques for improving digital and film photography. The cost is $35, or $28 for VINS members. To register, go to, or call 802-359-5000, ext. 223.

Artwork by Cynthia Crawford will be displayed in the VINS classroom through June 30. The exhibit, “Close To Home: Upper Valley Inspirations, a Journey Through Nature’s Wonders,” opens on April 13. Crawford will available to talk with visitors about her work from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 14.

Crawford’s work includes watercolor painting, photography, and a combination of the two media. A member and former president of the Vermont Watercolor Society, she has won awards from the Photographic Society of America and the New England Camera Club Council.
