Letter: Whaleback Is an Important Asset
To the Editor:
The focus of the Ford Sayre Ski program is to provide young people of our community with opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the winter and to learn and develop skills that will help them enjoy a lifetime of snow sports — whether alpine, Nordic or both. For many years, the Ford Sayre Ski Council has used Whaleback Mountain as a training facility for our young racers and freestyle skiers, as it has proven to be a perfect venue for our programs. Whaleback has the lighting we need to accommodate after-school programs, it has terrain appropriate for various levels of skiers and riders, it has a community feel, and the bottom line is, it’s an important asset for the Upper Valley snow sports community.
We are firmly behind the efforts of the Upper Valley Snow Sports Foundation to reopen and improve Whaleback Mountain. We hope that many others agree with us, as we know there is much work to be done in a short amount of time. To help the Upper Valley Snow Sports Foundation accomplish its goal of opening and maintaining Whaleback Mountain, we encourage the community to join us in our commitment to support Whaleback by making a contribution. The community’s support will enable all of us to enjoy Whaleback Mountain, a local, community-minded snow sports venue. Donations can be made to UVSSF, P.O. Box 606, Lebanon, N.H., 03766.
