Fairlee Fundraiser

Community Church of Christ treasurer Eileen Newton makes a sign for the church's annual Lobster and Chowder dinner fundraiser in Fairlee, Vt. on September 16, 2013. The dinner will take place Saturday afternoon and although tickets will be available at the door, reservations are recommended. After seven years of fundraising, and despite being short of their goal, the church finally installed an elevator to help elderly parishioners get to the dining room, which is in the church's basement. "Seven years was a long time to keep waiting," said Newton. "But it's a dream come true. It's here now and it's being used." Valley News - Elijah Nouvelage
