George J. Wojtkowiak

Wilder, Vt. — George J. Wojtkowiak, 75, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., Vt.

He was born July 25, 1938 in Wyandotte, Mich., a son of Anthony and Edna (Wheeler) Wojtkowiak. George spent his youth in Wyandotte where he graduated from high school before enlisting in the US Army in 1955. Military life suited George and he served over 20 years, including several tours in Vietnam. While in the service he attended college in Michigan and later retired from the army as an Intelligence Analyst in 1977. After his discharge George worked in law enforcement and then in civil service at Fort Riley. In his retirement he met Carol Meade. They were married in 2002 and moved to Wilder in 2010 to be nearer to her daughter.

George was a member of the Union Lodge #7 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Junction City, Kan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Wilder; a stepson, Michael Vaughn of Manhattan, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Belinda Poissant and her husband, Joe of Wilder.
