Letter: A Modest Measure of Precaution

To the Editor:

In the May 18 Valley News, Rep. Alison Clarkson, D-Woodstock, was reported as stating that no decision should be made about improving conditions for drivers on Route 4 until she has gathered more “data.” May I be so bold as to ask how many more lives will be lost on that dangerous road while she is busy compiling and analyzing her data? Surely rumble strips constitute a modest measure of precaution that should be installed immediately in the hope of reducing the chances of more fatal accidents along that stretch of highway.
