Green Softball Up in Division

New Haven, Conn. — The championship of the Ivy League softball’s North Division will come down to this weekend’s doubleheaders between Dartmouth and Harvard.

The Big Green took a one-game lead in the division with the two twinbills left on the schedule by completing a four-game weekend sweep of Yale yesterday. The 5-0 and 8-0 wins gave Dartmouth (22-17 overall, 12-4 league) an eight-game winning streak. The Big Green hosts the Crimson (21-18, 11-5) for two games on Saturday, then travels to Boston for two on Sunday.

Kristen Rumley threw a complete-game two-hitter to win the opening game, fanning five. Katie McEachern led the offense with four RBIs.

A five-run first keyed Dartmouth’s five-inning win in the nightcap. Rumley again limited Yale (8-32, 3-13) to two hits and struck out five for the victory.

College Baseball

Green Clinches Share

New Haven, Conn. — Dartmouth dropped a 2-0 opener to Yale before riding a nine-hit shutout from pitchers Michael Johnson and Michael Danielak in a 5-0 victory that gave the Big Green (26-7, 11-5) a share of its sixth straight Red Rolfe Division title. The Big Green will take it outright with one win in four games aginast Harvard this weekend.

Johnson improved to a league-best 6-0 in the victory, scattering eight hits over seven innings. Ennis Coble doubled twice to lead Dartmouth’s 13-hit attack.

David Hickey threw a four-hit shutout in the opener for the Bulldogs (9-26, 6-10).

Women’s Lacrosse

Colby-Sawyer 15, SUNY-Canton 12

New London — Senior Ashley Reis made the most of senior day, scoring a game-high four goals in the Chargers’ win.

Former Oxbow High goalie Karley Hamilton made 10 saves in the Colby-Sawyer net.

H.S. Baseball

KUA 15, New Hampton 14 (8)

Meriden — Nick Roberto drilled two home runs and delivered seven RBIs as the Wildcats nipped New Hampton on Saturday.

Robert also picked up the win on the mound, throwing three shutout innings of relief.

Newport’s Ben Bates also cracked a home run as KUA drilled three out of the park on the day.
