Dorothy May Laro

Lebanon, N.H. — Dorothy “Dot” May Laro, 95, a lifelong Lebanon resident died at Lebanon Center-Genesis on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1917, in Lebanon to the late Elwin R. & Dora M. (Carey) Townsend. Dot graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1936. She worked as a private caretaker. Dot was married to Leonard G. Laro on May 23, 1938, they moved to Errol, N.H. where she worked as a cook for the lumbermen who worked on her husband’s sawmill. They later moved back to Lebanon where she raised her children and worked for Tip Top Bakery and later retired from McNeill’s Pharmacy.

She enjoyed Tole painting, ceramic’s, macramé, latch hook, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening and watching the wildlife. She would often pick wild flowers on her daily walks.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Barber, Joyce Laro Dion and her husband, Doug, Bruce Laro and his wife, Barbara; six grandchildren, Michele Levesque, Paul Levesque, Renee Kauffman, Ty Dion, Brian Laro and Greg Laro; six great grandchildren, Dion, Jordan, Trevor, Cory Kauffman, Cody Laro and Abigail Laro; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Leonard in 1991 and by all her siblings, Clarence Gray, Ralph Townsend, Eleanor Kibbie, Ruth Bates, Ruby Kollar, Ellen Morin, Ellice Pageau and Baby Marion Townsend.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services, a private ceremony will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in Dot’s memory.
