Fernand “Fred” Charlemange Pare

Claremont, N.H. — Fernand “Fred” Charlemange Pare, 93, of Maple Avenue, died Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at his home.

He was born in St. Albans, Vt., on June 26, 1919, the son of Alcide and Blanche (Daze) Pare and had resided in Claremont since 1941.

Fred was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy.

He retired from Sanel Auto Parts of Claremont in 1984, where he was parts clerk for three years. Previously, he had worked at Dean Hill Motors for four years, at Imported Cars of Claremont for six years, and at Saucier Realty and Simms Motor Co.

Fred was a very active member of the Union Episcopal Church, where he was a Vestryman and Senior Warden. He also was Chairman of the Board at Pleasant Valley Estate.

He was the widower of Alice Elsie (Simms) Pare, to whom he was married on Jan. 2, 1943. She passed away on May 13, 2002.

The family includes two sons, David Robert Pare and Philip Ernest Pare and his wife, Susan (Leahy) Pare, all of Claremont; three granddaughters, Jill Pare, Jana Pare Dalton and Abbie Pare-Rutter; a step-grandson, Joe Brenton; five great-grandchildren, Shealyn, Nathalie and Kaden Pare, Jack Dalton, Zakai Rutter; four brothers, Romeo Pare, of Lakeland, Fla., Ernest Pare of St. Albans, and Lakeland, Fla., Raymond Pare of Swanton, Vt., Joseph Pare, of Rocky River, Ohio; two sisters, Cecile B. Ferland, of St. Albans, and Jane Magnant, of St. Albans.

He was predeceased by one son, Alan R. Pare; four brothers, Bernard Pare, Henry Pare, James Louise Pare and Hubert Pare; and a daughter-in-law, Katherine Pare.

As per his request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Union Episcopal Church on the Old Church Road in Claremont with the Rev. Martha Dyner officiating.

Interment will follow in the West Claremont Burial Grounds in Union Cemetery.
