Adeline L. Hall

Unity, N.H. — Adeline L. Hall died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Sullivan County Nursing Home. Born in Rutland, Vt. on June 21, 1918, Adeline was the daughter of James and Chirina (Schettini) Vittiglio. Adeline lived in Rutland and later in Schenectady, N.Y. where she met Harold E. Hall. They were married on May 7, 1944. Adeline has been a resident of Claremont, N.H. for more than 60 years.

Adeline was a member of the “Busy Bees”, a National Extension Association of Family and Community Education. She was an avid reader and belonged to a woman’s book club and discussion group. As a senior citizen, Adeline became a member of the AARP and the Congress of Claremont Senior Citizens. Adeline was also an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making her own clothes and dresses for her daughter-in-law.

As the firstborn of seven children to an immigrant Italian family, Adeline was known for her strong work ethic. She was employed as a clerk at Claremont department stores such as Fishman’s and Montgomery Wards, and for many years at The Corner Book Shop. Her husband of 48 years, Harold E. Hall who died March 17, 1992, and her son, Ralph E. Hall who died on June 20, 2011, predeceased Adeline. Adeline was predeceased by five of her six younger siblings: Janet Fish, Anna Kingsbury, Louis Vittiglio, Joseph Vittiglio, and James Vittiglio.

Survivors include her son, Harold J. Hall and daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn; three grandsons, Stephen of Jefferson City, Mo., Joshua of Cornish, N.H., and John of Claremont; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Ellessia, Darby, Josephine, Parker, and Tucker Hall; one brother, Geno Vittiglio of Daytona Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

At Adeline’s request, a service will be held at Roy Funeral Home on Sullivan Street in Claremont on Thursday, Dec., 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. Father Stanley Piwowar and Rev. Susan Langle will co-officiate the service. There will be no additional calling hours.
