In response to the recent letters sparked by the abortion debate and most specifically W.B Fisk Sr.’s letter (“Murder Is Murder, Period,” Nov. 12), his idea that there would be 48 million additional contributors to the tax base had abortion not been legalized is disturbing. His mentioning in the same breath the future solvency of Social Security and the issue of abortion and all it entails is nonsensical and in poor taste. Does he really believe that there is a connection between 48 million aborted babies and Social Security going broke? How did he fail to appreciate the quiet logic posed by Dawn Griffis’ letter? Fisk perpetuates the myth that those of us who are pro-choice are also pro-abortion. A decision to have an abortion is not made easily or without heartache. However, women must maintain their right to decide for themselves what they do with their bodies to keep them safe and healthy. Whatever the Lord may think on “Judgment Day” will be nobody else’s business.
