Eugene Norman Duffy
Springfield, Vt. — Eugene Norman Duffy, 97, passed away on Thursday morning at the Mt. Ascutney Health Care Center in Windsor, Vt. He was born Feb. 2, 1917, in Saxonville, Mass. the son of James P. and Mildred B. (Norman) Duffy. His childhood was spent in Lebanon, N.H. He attended Lebanon Schools and graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1935, being very active in sports during school. He attended the Clark School in Hanover, N.H. graduating in 1936. He then attended U.N.H. graduating class of 1941 with a B.S. in Accounting. He was also a member of the U.N.H. Ski team and a ski jumper while attending.
On Sept. 11, 1965, He married Laura M. Losee in Springfield. She predeceased him on Sept. 14, 2007.
He was employed as a Cost Accounting Manager with the Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield for 40 years, retiring in 1982. While in high school and college Mr. Duffy worked for the State of New Hampshire doing road survey.
Mr. Duffy was one of the original founders of the Crown Point Country Club in 1953, and he served two terms as Director and served on many committees.
He served as Treasurer for the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, a member of the Hitormis Club, a 50 year member of the Frankling Lodge # 6 F.&.A.M. in Lebanon, N.H., and a member of the Skitchewaug Chapter # 25 in Springfield. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, sking, gardening, reading and sports.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth Norman Duffy and his wife, Amy of Weathersfield, Vt. And by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother Raymond and by his wife, Laura.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday May 27, 2014, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. Reverend Gerry Piper will officiate. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Lebanon, N.H.
