Charles Edward Zumbrunnen, DDS, MPH, FACD
Concord, N.H. — Dr. Charles Zumbrunnen, DDS, MPH, FACD, former head of the State of N.H. Bureau of Oral Health, died in Concord, Thursday, May 8, 2014, after a long illness. Dr. Z, as he was fondly known, was “chief dentist” for the state from 1964 until his retirement in 1990. In this capacity, he developed and managed all of the public health dental programs throughout the state, and shepherded legislation to improve the oral health of N.H. citizens. He also served as the long term Secretary of the Board of Dental Examiners, overseeing the licensing of N.H. oral health professionals.
He was much loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves his loving wife of 29 years, Carole Palmer-Zumbrunnen; three daughters; and many other loving family members and friends
A memorial service is planned for Friday, June 6, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen N.H., with a reception to follow at the family residence. All are welcome. Arrangements are through the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King St., Boscawen, N.H.
