Letter: Quakers Working to End Death Penalty

To the Editor:

The Hanover monthly meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) honors the supreme value of each life and the transformative power of love to change lives, and opposes actions of the state to end lives. Quakers have long worked with many other faith groups to end the death penalty, and at the present time both the meeting as well as many individual members support the New Hampshire Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.

We applaud the New Hampshire House of Representatives’ vote last week to repeal the death penalty. We now urge the state Senate to do the same. This is a critical time for voters to contact their senators, encouraging them to support abolition of the death penalty in New Hampshire.
