Letter: Speaking Up in West Windsor

To the Editor:

To the residents of West Windsor, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the members of our community who showed up, stood up and spoke up at our Town Meeting and sent a loud and clear message that we value our local school and consider it an integral and vital part of our community. The residents of West Windsor engaged in the kind of meaningful and constructive dialogue that defines Vermont’s Town Mmeetings and is essential to the health and future of our community. I would like to acknowledge the sacrifices and compromises that are being made in order to sustain the vitality of our school, and ultimately of our community. It is essential that we all remain engaged and continue the dialogue that was started to address the root issues and causes that are challenging and threatening the sustainability of life in our small town. We must continue to show up, stand up and speak out so our collective voices for change will be heard at the state and federal level. We must stay involved, educate ourselves and elect people who represent our values and are willing to fight for our vision as if their lives depended on it. I am proud to be a member of this community and look forward to the day when I am one of the “old fogies” of our community fighting for the up-and-coming generation. With gratitude, the proud wife of School Board member Art Keating and proud mom of Emily, 10, and Julia, 7.
