Letter: That Other Vermont Cartoonist
That Other Vermont Cartoonist
To the Editor:
No one could be more delighted than I that Ed Koren, whom I admire and like tremendously as man and artist, should be our new Cartoonist Laureate (“Drawn Together in Vermont,” front page, Feb. 28). But it seems to me unfortunate that in an entire above-the-fold article on his new position there should be no more than a single, passing mention of his predecessor, James Kochalka, whose contributions to the cartoonist’s art have been more than substantial in Vermont and at large. Mind you, I have some bias: My recent collaboration with James on a cartoon-and-poetry project has been a truly high point for me in my own tenure as state poet.
