Mary Ann Pelkey
White River Jct., Vt. — Mary Ann Pelkey, 65, died early Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2014, at her home in White River Jct. She was born July 14, 1948, in Morrisville, Vt. the daughter of Frank and Madelyn (Sherman) Chamberlain.
She grew up in Duxbury, Vt. and graduated from Waterbury High School in Waterbury, Vt. After school she worked at a few different jobs before she married Guy A. Pelkey. They lived in the Central Vermont area all of their married life. Mary Ann worked as a caregiver at the Kirby House in Waterbury for over 20 years. Mr. Pelkey died in 1999. Mary Ann moved to Sharon, Vt. where she lived for two years before moving to White River Jct., two years ago. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and puzzle books but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who meant the world to her.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Dennis Pelkey who died of SIDS.
She is survived by two sons, Ed Pelkey and Brian Pelkey both of Sharon; two daughters, Trisa Starkey of Torrance, Calif. and Jodi Mainolfi-Trombly of Morrisville, Vt.; her daughters-in-law, Donna (Cronin) Pelkey and Debra (Pregent) Pelkey; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, David, Carl, Donny Chamberlain all of Florida; six sisters, Betty Mcallister of Orange, Vt., Linda Wade (Chamberlain) of Eden, Vt., Brenda Knight, Dina Chamberlain-Jones, Susan Fitch (Chamberlain), Jeany Degrey (Chamberlain) all of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495-146 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10063.
