PLACES OF INTEREST

The Old Constitution House: In this building, on July 8, 1777, the constitution that created the Republic of Vermont was signed, making Windsor the "birthplace of Vermont." The building, on Main Street, houses period rooms and exhibits examining the events surrounding the signing of the constitution, is open from late May through mid-October, Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 674-6628.
American Precision Museum: Collection of hand and machine tools, measuring tools, typewriters, engines and guns, as well as the tools that made the guns. Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends and holidays, from May 15 to Nov. 1, and by special appointment. Call 674-5781.
Vermont State Crafts Center: Retail gallery of crafts made by more than 250 Vermont craftspeople, and home of the Preservation Institute for the Building Crafts. Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 674-6752.
Ascutney State Park: Offers camping, picnicking and hiking trails as well as a toll road to the top of Mount Ascutney. Open May 17 to Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 674-2060.
