PLACES OF INTEREST

Mount Ascutney State Park: Located on Route 44A, off Route 5 in Ascutney. Telephone: 674-2060. The park includes a 3.8-mile toll road to the top of the mountain and a 3.8-mile hiking trail. In addition to picnic areas, the park includes a campground, which has a bathhouse and showers, but no electric hookups.
Wilgus State Park: Located along the Connecticut River on Route 5 in Ascutney. Offers picnic areas, camping and canoe rentals.
The Rev. Dan Foster House, home to the Weathersfield Historical Society, boasts a blacksmith's shop, a kitchen with fireplace, a children's room, and a genealogy section. The museum is open Thursday through Monday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Across the street from the Foster House, the Old Brick Meeting House holds Congregational services each Sunday at 10 a.m.
Route 131 crosses the Black River at the Upper Falls Covered Bridge, the only covered bridge in Weathersfield still in use.
