PLACES OF INTEREST

A line of 27 contiguous horse sheds on the green is one of the longest in New England.
Covered bridge on River Road, built on the green between 1885 and 1887, and later carted to its final destination.
Residents of Lyme enjoy a variety of recreational options, including Post Pond, which offers fishing year round and swimming in the summer. Near the pond are a rink for skating in the winter, softball fields, tennis and basketball courts and the Robert Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary.
Smarts Mountain has hiking trails, and the Dartmouth Skiway maintains two lifts and numerous trails for downhill skiing.
Lyme's green is used for community church suppers, concerts performed by the Lyme Town Band, craft fairs and flea markets.
The Converse Free Library is open six days a week and serves both the town and the school.
