PLACES OF INTEREST

Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, the sculptor’s old home and grounds, includes examples of his work. The site is located just off Route 12A, just north of the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge. It draws 40,000 visitors a year from Memorial Day to late October. The replica of Saint-Gaudens’ reputation-making statue of Adm. David Farragut was unveiled during the memorial’s 75th anniversary in 1994.
The 450-foot-long Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge is the nation’s longest bridge of its type.
