PLACES OF INTEREST

Bethel Common: On Church Street (Route 12 north). Concert series at 7, various weekday nights during the summer. Sponsored by Bethel Council on the Arts. The common is an attraction in itself, with benches, a fountain and flower beds.
Bethel Historical Society: Museum on second floor of the United Church on Church Street. Open Sunday afternoons during the summer.
Peavine Park: On the White River, it's a pleasant place to picnic and relax just beyond the railroad underpass at the south end of the village.
National Fish Hatchery: On Route 107 west, largest fish hatchery in the East. Trout, salmon eggs and young fish. Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, tours available.
Recreation area: On Pleasant Street (Route 12 north). Facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts and playground.
