Places of Interest

Thetford Hill State Park: Developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, in-cludes a log picnic shelter, fireplaces, tables and a toilet building with hot showers and flush toilets. Also, tent sites, lean-to sites, and playground. Open mid-May to Labor Day. Information: 785-2266.

Union Village Dam: Recreational facilities on the site's 1,301 acres include three picnic areas with fireplaces and tables, restrooms, drinking water and a swimming area. Access to the main entrance is via Academy Road in Union Village, or by driving through the park from Thetford Center. For information call 649-1606.

Treasure Island: A recreation area on Lake Fairlee owned and maintained by the town, is actually located in West Fairlee. Open June through Labor Day, swimming and lessons and tennis. Admission is by daily or season pass. For inquiries about passes, call the town offices at 333-9731.
