Places of Interest

Corbin Covered Bridge: Connects both banks of the Sugar River on Corbin Road in North Newport. Burned in an arson fire in May 1993, the bridge was reconstructed to its original specifications, although it has a higher weight limit. Newport also has two railroad covered bridges, both located off Chandler's Mill Road. There are only eight railroad covered bridges remaining in the country.

Newport Opera House: In Newport Town Hall on Main Street. The oldest of New England's opera houses still standing, the Newport Opera House hosts local and visiting performers throughout the year.

The Common on Main Street hosts flea markets on Saturday mornings and free open air concerts on Sundays at 6 p.m. from June through August. There is also an Apple Pie Craft Fair in August, and a Farmers Market from June to October.
