Valley Almanac Published June 25, 2006 Much of the information in this Valley Almanac was collected with the assistance of town clerks and other officials in the 46 communities that make up the Valley News coverage area. The information has been gathered over the course of the past few months, so some names and numbers may be outdated. Due to time limitations, it was not possible to independently verify the lists of officials provided by each town. A number of town pages do not include photographs because town officials did not return suggestions for photo subjects. The photographs were taken with full or partial white screen backgrounds, echoing the style used by photographer Richard Avedon in his well-known exhibit In the American West. The Valley Almanac was compiled by a number of Valley News staffers: Staff writer Susan Rousseau collected the town information. Also contributing were staff writer Kristen Fountain, photographers Jennifer Hauck, James M. Patterson and Channing Johnson and photo intern Travis Dove. The Almanac was designed by Photo/Graphics Editor Geoff Hansen and edited by News Editor Susan J. Rand.
