Thetford Hill State Park, Academy Road: Its facilities were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and include a log picnic shelter, fireplaces, tables and a toilet building with hot showers and flush toilets. Also, 14 tent sites and two lean-to sites, and a playground. Open mid-May to Labor Day. Information: (802) 785-2266.
Union Village Dam: Recreational facilities on the site's 1,301 acres include three picnic areas with fireplaces and tables, restrooms and drinking water; a swimming area. Access to the main entrance is via Academy Road in Union Village, or by driving through the park from Thetford Center. For information call (802) 649-1606.
Treasure Island: a recreation area on Lake Fairlee that's owned and maintained by the town of Thetford, is actually located in West Fairlee. Open June through Labor Day. Swimming, swimming lessons, tennis. Admission is by daily or season pass. For inquiries about passes, call the town offices, (785) 2922.
