Probably the most striking feature on Lyme's green is the long line of contiguous horse sheds behind the Congregational Church. The line of 27 barns is the longest in New England, and their red paint against the white of the church and the green grass in the cemetery across the street make them a favorite of photographers.

Other sights include a covered bridge on River Road. The bridge was built on the green between 1885 and 1887, and later carted to its final destination.

Residents of Lyme enjoy a variety of recreational options, including Post Pond, which offers fishing year round and swimming in the summer. Near the pond are a rink for skating in the winter, softball fields, tennis and basketball courts and the Robert Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary.

Smarts Mountain has hiking trails, and the Dartmouth Skiway maintains two lifts and numerous trails for downhill skiing.

Lyme's green is used for community church suppers, concerts performed by the Lyme Town Band, craft fairs and flea markets.

The Converse Free Library is open six days a week and serves both the town and the school.
